<p>Well, it has happened again this year just like every January, the people that we gym regulars like to call &#8220;The Resolutionaries&#8221; are back at the health club.</p>
<p>I for one would love it if each and every one of them would actually continue throughout the year doing some form of exercise, however, it is so very usual for the number of people in the gym to fall off by 20-40% by February. Sad, so sad, and here we are one of the fattest nations in the world.</p>
<p>I bet all the fitness clubs absolutely love New Years Eve&#8230;.. Just think, sales are down due to the slow economy and then the new year rolls around and you are able to increase your membership by 20-40% and you don&#8217;t need to increase the size of your facility or number of staff because in 6-8 weeks you will have the same number of people using the gym as you did during your slow months but yet you have increased your monthly income.  Pretty cool, huh?</p>
<p>Well don&#8217;t let yourself become another one of the RESOLUTIONARIES!!!! When you join the gym do yourself a favor and hire a personal trainer the very same day or take advantage of the group exercise classes offered right away. Most people stop going to the club because they never really knew how to work out in the first place and they wind up getting a little sore and low and behold that warm bed is a much better place to hang out.</p>
<p>And, for heavens sake don&#8217;t let yourself become just a Resolutionary&#8230;.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><strong><em>Well, my wife and I and our (Navy Seals Group) had a wonderful workout this last Saturday to help make room for all the good food we shared with family and friends Easter Sunday. We met our buddies at the club just before 09:00 and warmed up a bit and at 09:00 sharp we ran to our nearest 4 story parking garage and sprinted the stairs up and down for 6 sets and then ran back to the club where we grabbed some bars and medicine balls . Our Master Sargeant told us to put the bars behind our heads and lunge around the pool which of course we did, then when we arrived at the place we began our lunges we dropped our bars and took the medicine balls and held them in front of us and lunged around the pool again working our <a href="http://www.menshealth.com/cda/article.do?site=MensHealth&amp;channel=weight.loss&amp;category=abs.diet&amp;conitem=4398b8e1494ce010VgnVCM20000012281eac____&amp;page=3" onclick="urchinTracker('/outgoing/www.menshealth.com/cda/article.do?site=MensHealth_amp_channel=weight.loss_amp_category=abs.diet_amp_conitem=4398b8e1494ce010VgnVCM20000012281eac_amp_page=3&amp;referer=');"><font color="#0000ff">obliques</font></a> until we wanted to scream, oh wait, we did scream.</em></strong></p>
<p><strong><em>It didn’t stop there we still have another 1 hour and 15 minutes to go so in the pool we go with our medicine balls above our head running back and forth in the shallow end pumping those balls up and down. Yes our arms are getting a bit tired. Ok, get out of the pool and give me 30 seconds of squats followed by 30 seconds of holding a lunge position pumping our ball with one hand above our head and back to our shoulder, followed by holding a squat position with our shoulders back chest out bringing our balls (medicine) to our chest and then swinging our staightened  arms to each side and repeat for 30 seconds, followed by pushups and then get back in the water and start it all over again for 30 minutes.</em></strong></p>
<p><strong><em>Now it is time to get our water dumbell go to the swimming lanes tuck our dumbell between our legs and swim back and forth in the 25 meter lanes using only our upper body. Oh wait, now we have 30 seconds to make it to the other side of the 25 meter pool using only upper body (I don’t think I mentioned there are only a few people that can actually swim, I am not one of those people). Now get out do 10 pushups, get back in and do it again and again and again. All in all a very fun 2 hour workout.</em></strong></p>
<p><strong><em>Why do we do this? It is so incredibly important to have that outlet for the stresses of the day and week and to keep our bodies in good physical and mental shape for the years to come.  Oh, did I mentioned we really aren’t Navy Seals? And, we respect and understand the physical and mental toughness it takes to be a Seal. We old farts just enjoy playing and testing our limits, having fun staying in shape. HOORAH!!!!!</em></strong></p>
